Anadolu Efes are a first class team
I respect everyone but I don’t think that we should be afraid of anyone", said the Real Madrid coach.
Real Madrid coach Pablo Laso spoke after training about the opening game in the EuroLeague against Anadolu Efes (Thursday, 7pm CEST): "Starting in Turkey is nothing special. We have won and lost there. There has been a bit of everything. We know that the matches in Turkey are difficult but the most important thing is that we’re playing against a great team, first class. The quality in the EuroLeague is very high. Tomorrow is the first game, it’ll be very tough and difficult".
"Rudy and Thompkins are not traveling. Rudy has had fever all week and Thompkins is in the United States because of family issue. The rest are available and we’ll decide tomorrow at the last minute who else will be left out. Hopefully we will not have any more problems. Today they have trained well".

"It’s very difficult for me to pick a favorite. I respect everyone but I don’t think that we should be afraid of anyone. That would be absurd. I'm sure the rest consider Madrid a great team too".
THE OBJECTIVE AT THE MOMENT IS TO QUALIFY AMONGST THE TOP EIGHT.
"The style we have is Real Madrid’s, not Llull’s nor Chacho’s no matter how much we love them. The club is above individuals. It’s true that Llull is very important to us but we have always tried to work along the line that the team is more important than the individuals. He’ll come back, he’s not dead. We start the season with a different team, that's true, and the team has to get used to each other. What I don’t accept is a team that doesn’t try".
Objectives in the Euroleague
"I always try to concentrate on my team. I’d like to be competitive from day one regardless of whether we win or lose. If I had to say our objective at the moment, it’s to qualify amongst the top eight. It's the only thing that’s preventing me from sleeping for now. From there, looking towards the top four. We’re talking about a very demanding competition, with the best teams in Europe. We’re aware that we have potential, like others, but we have to compete well if we want to win it".
Timing
"It's important to know that you have to improve during the season but at the same time compete from the first day. We’re still very far from what we can be as a team and we have to work daily to be better. It’s normal. The team looks good and the players are working well. The experience of last year was important to all of us and we can’t try to save ourselves as you risk not qualify for the playoffs"
