Isco once again played an instrumental role for Spain in the side’s victory over Albania. The madridista popped up in the 16th minute to float a pass to Rodrigo, who rifled the ball home to open the scoring. Only a few minutes had elapsed when on 24' the Real Madrid man rounded off a fine team move with a rasping drive which flew into the net.

Isco was heavily involved throughout and came close to claiming a second on two occasions. He almost netted from a direct free-kick and he was later denied when his cross-cum-shot skimmed the crossbar. Joining Isco in the starting line-up named by Julen Lopetegui was Sergio Ramos. Nacho completed the final 30 minutes, whilst Marco Asensio entered the fray on 73' and he came a whisker away from getting his name on the scoresheet with a stoppage-time free-kick.
